The festival

The XXV International Music & Dance Festival “DURRES WAVES” takes place in Durrës, Albania, from 24–29 August 2027.

This non-competitive event brings performers from different countries together for public performances, sightseeing and seaside activities.

Getting around

City buses connect central Durrës with Plepa, Currila, Porto Romano and other districts.

Practical notes

The Tirana–Durrës motorway provides road access. Ferries link the port with Italian destinations including Bari and Ancona; check operator, sailing and vehicle arrangements.

Participation Limits

  • Maximum 3 groups per country.
  • Maximum 70 participants per group.

Travel Arrangements

Groups arrange their own arrival and departure transportation.

Performance & Stage

  • Folk groups should prepare at least 2 dances.
  • Each dance or performance block should last approximately 10–15 minutes.
  • Choirs should prepare approximately 15 minutes.

1. Kruja – Historical City Tour

Discover Kruja Castle, the Skanderbeg Museum, and the traditional Old Bazaar, famous for its local handicrafts, historical atmosphere, and panoramic views.

2. Berat – City of a Thousand Windows

Explore Berat Castle, traditional Ottoman architecture, the historic Mangalem and Gorica neighborhoods, and the famous Gorica Bridge.

3. Tirana – Capital City Sightseeing

Explore Albania's vibrant capital, including Skanderbeg Square, Et'hem Bey Mosque, the New Bazaar, and the city's main cultural attractions.

4. Divjakë–Karavasta National Park

Discover Albania's beautiful lagoon ecosystem, peaceful pine forests, panoramic observation points, and natural wildlife, including the Dalmatian pelican.
