The festival

The XXII International Choir Festival “MELODIES BY THE SEA” takes place in Paralia, Greece, from 9–13 September 2027.

This non-competitive festival promotes choral music and gives participants opportunities to build friendships through music.

Thursday 9 September

Arrival & Welcome Reception

  1. Arrival in Paralia, hotel check-in and free time / beach time.

  2. Dinner.

  3. Welcome reception with group leaders.

Accommodation packages

Price includes

  • Accommodation in Paralia or Olympic Beach.
  • Half Board: breakfast and dinner.
  • Festival organization.
  • A souvenir and gift for each group.
  • Certificate of attendance.
  • Welcome cocktail.
  • Free parking.
  • Festival promotion and advertising.
  • One free place for every 24 paying participants (24+1).
  • Two double rooms for drivers and group leaders, provided according to the stated accommodation conditions.

Not included

  • Arrival and departure transport: groups are responsible for their own arrangements.
  • Double room supplement: EUR 12 per person/day.
  • Single room supplement: EUR 35 per person/day.
  • Additional night with Half Board: EUR 39 per person/day.
  • Tourist tax: EUR 2 per person/day.
  • Air conditioning may cost approximately EUR 5–7 per day.
  • Airport transfers from Thessaloniki can be arranged at an additional cost.
  • Optional boat excursion: EUR 20 per person, including lunch and drinks.

Accommodation is provided in selected hotels and apartments. Possible properties include Rainbow Resort, Passion, Katerina, Xenia Zeus, Ifigenia, Despina, London and Phenix.

Standard accommodation is in multiple-bed rooms with private bathrooms. Single and double rooms are also available.

Accommodation assignment depends on availability, group size and room configuration; the final hotel may vary accordingly.

A 10% guarantee fee is paid in advance and deducted from the final payment.

Participation

Who Can Participate

  • Children’s choirs
  • Youth choirs
  • Adult choirs
  • Singing formations
  • Orchestras

Age Categories

  • Children’s choirs: at least two-thirds of participants must be 16 or younger.
  • Youth choirs: at least two-thirds of participants must be 27 or younger.
  • Adult choirs: at least one-third of participants must be older than 27.

Application & Participation

  • A short CV, photos of the choir and conductor, and a recent audio recording are required.
  • Groups should bring their national flag.

Performance & Stage

  • Maximum group size: 70 participants, including singers, managers and musicians.
  • Each choir must participate in at least two festival sections, and groups should prepare at least two performances.
  • Section 1 – Open-Air Performance: a 12–15-minute program.
  • Section 2 – Spiritual Music: an 8–14-minute program.
  • Section 3 – Pop or Folk Music: an 8–14-minute program.
  • Performances may be with or without instruments.

Excursions

Additional optional excursions and activities include Mount Olympus, Pozar & Edessa Waterfalls, a Pirate Cruise and Skiathos Island. Further sightseeing and optional activities are listed in the daily program.
