Participation Information

The Malta International Christmas Choir Festival offers a unique opportunity for choirs from around the world to gather and perform in a reciprocal cultural exchange. The festival is non-competitive and open to a variety of choirs, including mixed choirs, male choirs, women’s choirs, youth choirs, sacred music choirs, gospel choirs, and folk music choirs.

Each choir is encouraged to perform in its own style, though it is important to note that the festival takes place in Catholic churches, so the song list must include sacred music, Christmas carols, and possibly gospel songs. Choirs may perform “a cappella” or with accompaniment, such as piano, organ, or other instruments. The festival organization will provide a piano organ for each church, or an electric keyboard if a particular church’s organ is unavailable. Any additional instruments must be brought by the respective choirs.
