Participation Information

With pleasure we INVITE you (Folk ensembles,  Ballroom dance teams, art schools, Music theatre, modern dance teams, orchestras and majorette teams), (children and youth  groups) to participate on XXXV XXXIX INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE FESTIVAL ATATARIA LAMZDŽIAI 2025 from 06 – 08 June

CONDITIONS

  1. The regulations of the XXXIX International Folklore Festival “Atataria lamzdžiai 2025” (hereinafter referred to as the “Festival”) outline its aim, objectives, time, location, participation requirements, and registration details.
  2. The festival, held annually since 1984, will take place in Kaunas, Lithuania, from June 6th-8th, 2025.
  3. The theme of the Festival is EARTH, reflecting the traditional Lithuanian respect for the land as a source of life, prosperity, and national pride. Participants are encouraged to present folklore performances aligned with this theme.
  4. The festival aims to promote ethnic culture, folklore traditions, and national consciousness while fostering intercultural cooperation and artistic excellence.
  5. Objectives include:
  • Organizing diverse cultural events for all age groups to preserve intangible cultural heritage.
  • Offering engaging performances showcasing traditional folklore from different regions.
  • Encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing between folklore ensembles.

Interested folklore groups must complete the online participant application by April 4, 2025

Accommodation Information

International Ensembles:

  • Maximum 20 people per group (including leaders, drivers, and assistants). Additional members must cover their own travel, accommodation, and meals.
  • Participants can arrive a day before and leave a day after the festival (unless affected by flight schedules).

12. Travel costs must be covered by participants.
13. International participant fee:€40 per person/day, covering accommodation, meals, cultural programs, and transport within Kaunas.
14. Participants may be exempted from the fee if:

  • They arrange their own accommodation, meals, and transport.
  • The festival secures sponsorship covering these costs.
  1. Payment deadline: May 23, 2025.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations.

Program Information

18. Performances should include authentic singing, storytelling, instrumental, and choreographic folklore.
19. Programs should align with the festival theme EARTH.
20. Performance durations:

  • Stage performances: 10-20 minutes.
  • Outdoor city performances (streets, squares): 30-40 minutes.
  • Instrumental and choreographic folklore: 20-30 minutes, including audience participation.
  1. All performances must be live (no pre-recorded audio allowed).

Excursions Information

The festival will be held at Kaunas National Culture Centre (A. Jakšto str. 18, Kaunas, Lithuania) and other locations in Kaunas. Additional cultural activities and excursions will be available to provide participants with an immersive experience of Lithuanian heritage. Groups can request their own dedicated concert/musical night by informing the organizers at least two months in advance
