Participation Information
The International Choir Festival in Sicily is a non-competitive event open to polyphonic choirs, gospel choirs, male, female, or mixed choirs, white voices choirs, alpine choirs, local parish choirs, and children’s choirs. Participating choirs will have the opportunity to perform their own songs and share their choral traditions with other choirs and the general public. The performances will be held in beautiful baroque churches in the region of Catania, Acireale, and Taormina. The festival offers a unique chance for cultural exchange, where choral music helps bridge language barriers and connects people globally.
Each choir must perform religious/sacred music, as concerts will be hosted in churches. Choirs can perform “a cappella” or be accompanied by an organ or other instruments. The organization will ensure that a church organ is available for each performance, but if unavailable, an electric piano/keyboard will be provided. Any additional instruments must be brought by the participating choir. At the end of each festival evening, all choirs will come together to sing a song as a unified performance.
The festival is organized in a manner that encourages the exchange of musical cultures and allows choirs to present their unique styles to a wide audience.
