Participation Info


We are pleased to invite children’s, youth, and adult groups to participate in the XXXI International Music & Dance Festival “Ohrid WAVES.” This festival is a non-competitive showcase of traditional and modern dances and music performed by groups.

General Rules:

Each group has the right to participate.
Groups may consist of children’s ensembles, youth ensembles, and adult ensembles.
The maximum number of participating groups is limited to three from each country.
Each group should consist of up to 50 members, including dancers, managers, and musicians.
Ensembles must prepare at least two folk dances, each lasting 12-18 minutes with an orchestra or USB.
Choral groups should have a two-part program of 12-18 minutes, with one performance a cappella in an old city church and another on stage with sound equipment.
Performances will take place in the evening, allowing time for sightseeing during the day.
Prizes will be awarded for the best girl’s and men’s folk costumes and the best dancing couple.
Groups are required to send a short CV and photos, bring a flag of their country, and arrange their own transport for arrival and departure.

Additional Information:

For every 24 dancers, one person is free of charge.
Each group will receive a souvenir and gift, a welcome cocktail, and certificates of attendance.
Drinks will be provided during performances, and free bus parking will be available.
Macedonian tourist tax: €1 per person per day (to be paid additionally).

Extended Stay Information:


On your request, You can continue your stay in Ohrid. The price will be 33 Euro per day per person FB and 29 Euro per day per person HB – this is a special price for festival participants that we can provide. For additional days, we will prepare a special program for you.

Program Information



Day 1: Arrival and Welcome

13:00: Arrival in Ohrid and hotel accommodation (check-in after 13:00).
14:00 – 15:00: Lunch at the hotel (for those choosing the meal plan with three meals).
19:00 – 21:00: Dinner at the hotel.
21:00: Welcome reception and meeting with group leaders.

Day 2: Sightseeing and Festival Evening

09:00 – 10:00: Breakfast at the hotel.
10:00 – 13:00: Ohrid sightseeing, including visits to:

St. Sofia Church
Samoil Fortress (entry: €2)
Ancient Theatre (entry: €2)

St. Kaneo Church

14:00 – 15:00: Lunch at the hotel.

Day 3: Cultural Exploration and Free Evening

Day 4: Lake Cruise and Evening Party

09:00 – 10:00: Breakfast at the hotel.
11:00 – 16:00: Boat cruise on Ohrid Lake, including:

Visit to the Museum on Water
Tour to St. Naum, a cultural site.
Opportunity for swimming at the most popular beach (price: €13 per person; normal price €15).
Lunch package provided.
18:00 – 20:00: Dinner at the hotel.
21:00 – 00:00: Party at the hotel.
Day 5: Departure

09:00 – 10:00: Breakfast at the hotel.
11:00: Departure of participants.

Optional Extended Stay: If you choose to extend your stay, the following activities are available:

Day 5 (Extended):

09:00 – 10:00: Breakfast.
10:00 – 13:00: Visit to Struga city (House of Miladinovci brothers, River Crni Drim, Kalishta cave church).
14:00 – 15:00: Lunch at the hotel and free activities.
19:00 – 20:00: Dinner at the hotel.
21:00: Second festival evening.

Day 6 (Extended):

09:00 – 10:00: Breakfast.
10:00 – 14:00: Free activities (sunbathing, swimming in Ohrid Lake, or visiting Vevcani ethno village).
14:00 – 15:00: Lunch at the hotel.
19:00 – 21:00: Dinner at the hotel.
21:00 – 00:00: Beach party.

Day 7 (Extended):

08:00 – 09:00: Breakfast.
09:00 – 14:00: Departure to Skopje city with a guided tour (visiting monuments of Alexander of Macedon, Museum of Macedonian Struggle, Macedonian Gate, Stone Bridge, Memorial Center of Holocaust).
14:00: Departure from Skopje city.

Excursion Information



During the festival, participants will have the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and natural heritage of Ohrid and its surroundings through guided excursions. Below are the scheduled excursions:

Day 2: Ohrid Sightseeing

Time: 10:00 – 13:00
Description: Visit notable cultural monuments in Ohrid, including:

St. Sofia Church: A historic church known for its beautiful frescoes.
Samoil Fortress: Explore the ancient fortress with stunning views of the city and lake (entrance fee: €2).
Ancient Theatre: Visit the well-preserved ruins of the Roman amphitheater (entrance fee: €2).
Plaošnik: An important archaeological site and spiritual center.
St. Kaneo Church: A picturesque church situated on a cliff overlooking the lake.
Bridge of Wishes: A charming spot for photos and enjoying the scenic views.
Gallery of Icons: Discover the rich tradition of iconography in Ohrid.
Day 3: Cultural Exploration

Time: 10:00 – 13:00
Description: Engage in a variety of cultural experiences, including:

Stara Carsija: Wander through the old bazaar, rich in history and local crafts.
Cinar Tree: Visit the oldest tree in Ohrid, a significant natural monument.
Biljanini Springs: Enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of these springs.
Ohrid Pearl Shop: Learn about the famous Ohrid pearls and shop for souvenirs.
Old Paper Manufacturing Workshop: Observe traditional paper-making techniques.
Shopping or Optional Visit: Spend free time shopping or visit Struga city.
Day 4: Lake Ohrid Cruise

Time: 11:00 – 16:00
Description: A scenic boat cruise on Lake Ohrid, featuring:

Museum on Water: Visit the underwater archaeological site, showcasing artifacts from ancient times.
St. Naum Monastery: Explore this beautiful cultural site known for its serene setting and historical significance.
Swimming Opportunity: Enjoy a refreshing swim at the most popular beach along the lake (cost: €13 per person; normal price €15). Lunch packages will be provided during the cruise.
Optional Extended Stay Excursions: If participants choose to extend their stay, additional excursions will be available:

Day 5 (Extended Stay)

Time: 10:00 – 13:00
Description: Visit Struga city, including:

House of Miladinovci Brothers: Explore the home of the famous poets.
Crni Drim River: Enjoy the scenic views along the river.
Kalishta Cave Church: Visit this historical church located in a unique cave setting.
Day 6 (Extended Stay)

Time: 10:00 – 14:00
Description: Free activities for relaxation, including:

Sunbathing and Swimming: Enjoy the sun and beautiful waters of Lake Ohrid.
